Those who underestimate heel pain
put their mobility at risk.
What causes heel pain?
Not only do the soles of your feet carry the weight of your body, they also absorb impact forces however small. And if your feet are pushed to the limit, your body will send out early warning signs: One in ten adults suffers from pain of varying intensity in the heel region.
As heel pain increases, normal walking and standing become excruciating and sometimes impossible: mobility is restricted.
Heel complaints can be caused by many different reasons. The strain of standing for long periods or walking on hard surfaces can induce heel pain, but so can shortening of muscles in the calves and foot soles, which is a common condition. Other triggers include being overweight and foot deformities, e.g. lat feet.
